Nature's Eye

20 September 2025 - 18 January 2026

Karin Lykke

The exhibition, which is a solo exhibition, unfolds throughout our upper floor. Here, the audience can take a walk through three zones, each with its own title and theme, which visual artist Karin Lykke focuses on illuminating with her art. Like many others, she is concerned that nature must be taken care of and that we take a stand on climate change. The artist's works present nature in different ways; as something threatened, as something diverse, as something vulnerable.

In the Declinity zone, there is, among other things, a focus on wild plants and the melting of glaciers in Iceland, as well as on water and the deep marine environment. With the Fragility zone, we are invited into the cycle of plants and natural decomposition, see feathers and eggs from endangered birds, and a kind of death chamber where, among other things, animals killed in traffic are depicted in cyanotype. Finally, the works in the Biodiversity zone tell of the diversity of plant and insect life found in uncultivated wild nature.

Overall, the artist examines wild nature under a magnifying glass in this exhibition, often zooming in on details. Nature from all over the country, and to a certain extent the North Atlantic area, has inspired the artist in his choice of motifs. For some works, material has been taken from Ørnsø, Arnakkekilden and Silkeborg Vesterskov.

Technically, the audience is presented with a number of different forms of expression on the walk, where paper is the common denominator, both in small and large formats. The artist works with liquid ink, watercolor, pigment, cyanotype, graphics, and combinations of these media, both on paper and textile. There are examples of ceramics and installations. At several points in the exhibition, you also get an insight into the artists' sketch material.

Karin Lykke, born 1967, is a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Danish Academy of Fine Arts. She lives and works based in Odsherred.
