Thomas Pedersen's Graphics Study Collection In the year 2000, the BG Fund and Oda and Hans Svenningsen's Fund Fond provided the Art Centre with the opportunity of acquiring Thomas Pedersen's graphics study collection. In 2002, the collection was put on display in the west wing of the Kurbygningen (spa building), now the "graphics wing", that had in advance been renovated like other parts of the building. Before being placed on display, the collection was registered. |

Th. Pedersen's graphics study collection now forms the basis of a particular focus area with graphics at its centre – be that for study purposes with small exhibitions of the collection or occasional displays of individual works in relation to other Art Centre exhibitions or themes that are brought up in other parts of Silkeborg's cultural scene.
Photographer Poul Pedersen from Århus took over his father's study collection, when his father died. Through a close cooperation with Poul Pedersen in the 1999 medieval year, the Art Centre gained an insight into the contents and quality of |

the collection and learned of Poul Pedersens interest in finding room and not least a use for the graphics collection. The collection has over 3,000 single sheets. The representation of artists spans the period from the late 1820s to 1975. Even though additions to the collection ceased in 1975 when Thomas Pedersen died, many of the younger artists represented are still active today. The collection excels with a comprehensive breadth in graphic techniques as well as genre and artist representation.
Graphics Studies
We aim to make the collection a natural part of the Art Centre's profile as a living, committed, and inspiring art and exhibition environment. The numerous potentials of the collection – for underlining a specific artist, a particular technique, a specific period etc. – provides us with ample opportunity to create small |

and varying special exhibitions based on the collection on a continued basis. The collection representation of original graphics by known and unknown, mostly Danish artists and graphic artists, provides us with a comprehensive and in many ways very interesting material that we can use in presenting art's various genres and expressions. The collection should not be hidden away or be inaccessible, rather it should in an orderly manner be made available to our visitors and to special interest guests for their enjoyment and studies. The Art Centre has prepared inspiration and work material for schools on Th. Pedersen's graphics study collection. Further, special guided tours can be booked with a particular focus on this collection. |

Visiting Th. Pedersen's Graphics Study Collection
Until further notice, the procedure for special visits is to call the Art Centre in advance and make the necessary arrangements depending on the intended use of the collection: Visitors interested in working with the collection on their own, man call in advance to have portfolios brought out from the collection. Schools that are interested in specific introductions to graphics in connection with art classes – be that techniques or artistic elements – by a member of our staff may book such an introduction in the same manner as any guided tour. All special visits must be booked in advance via the reception desk or by telephone to the Art Centre: + 45 86 81 63 29. |
